Free Mind, Free Style

Christine has been painting and drawing since she can remember. It has always been a bit of a dream to focus on her art, with life getting in the way for a fair few years.  With a degree in Illustration taken at University of Plymouth, Christine has since tried a number of different routes, but is now working as a full time artist and loving every minute of it!

"One thing I learned from my degree - I cannot be told what to draw!  I decided to abandon (a harsh word but it's the truth) my illustration career as I felt constrained when working to a brief -  it now comes freely when brush hits canvas.  Though it was definitely a worthwhile degree to do, I know now that I must have total creative control or I can't get it out!  I enjoy seeing a piece develop in front of me rather than having it stuck in my head.  I will never stick to one medium or theme.

A lot of the pieces shown on this website are older pieces, but I still value them greatly as they show my development and once you see my new pieces, all will become clear.....

At the moment I am gathering together a portfolio of large abstract pieces - watch this space!"

Currently working as a Freelance Artist, Christine is now working on large-scale boxed canvases mainly using enamel - a medium which she loves and is experimenting with on a daily basis.  Images to follow shortly!

Christine has also enjoyed employment at Castle Galleries, part of the Washington Green Publishing group where she has been exposed to fellow artists and gained a valuable insight into the world of the Commercial art market.

An exhibition of Christine's work will be on Display for two weeks from the 29th June 2009 at the Moondog Gallery in Reading, please visit the following website for more information www.moondogcafe.co.uk
